CHICAGO – Holland & Knight’s nationally regarded Public Policy &
Regulation Group is bolstering its Midwest presence with the move of Senior
Policy Advisor Lynn Cutler to the firm’s Chicago office. The relocation is part
of a strategic plan to expand the firm’s legislative and regulatory practice and
better serve the practice group’s extensive public and private sector client
base in that region.
“We are continuing our momentum of strategic national growth in key regions,
and Lynn’s presence and proven record of success will be a catalyst for our
ongoing expansion in the Chicago area, an important location for many of our
clients,” said Rich Gold, PP&R Practice Group Leader.
Cutler is a former local elected official in Iowa, Vice Chair of the
Democratic National Committee for twelve years, and Deputy Assistant to the
President in the Clinton White House. She also worked in the office of the
Chief of Staff to the President. In both capacities, she worked with the
nation's cities, counties and tribal governments. Since her arrival at Holland &
Knight, Cutler has focused on state and local government matters, representing
cities dealing with federal issues. She is actively involved with the U.S.
Conference of Mayors, and has been a member of the Mayors Business Council
Steering Committee since 2003. She is also active in the Democratic Governor's
Association, serving on the Board of Directors of the support group to the
association. In addition, she uses her extensive experience and close
relationships with the nation’s tribal governments and government officials on
behalf of the firm’s tribal clients.
“Lynn is highly respected for her legal acumen and deep understanding of the
legislative process,” said Peter Friedman, co-chair of the firm’s Government
Representation Team. “Bringing Lynn to Chicago strengthens our resources in the
Midwest and underscores our commitment to the continued growth and success of
our government practice.”
Over the past year, the firm has experienced dramatic growth in its
legislative and regulatory practice with the addition of several prominent
lawyers and policy advisors, including U.S. Senator Ben Nighthorse Campbell;
Robert Highsmith, deputy executive counsel to Georgia Governor Sonny Perdue;
Peter Murphy, U.S. Marine Corps general counsel; Robert Bernstein, former
Massachusetts state senator; and Arthur Coleman and Scott Palmer, deputy
assistant secretaries, U.S. Department of Education’s Office for Civil Rights.
