ORLANDO and WASHINGTON, D.C. – Holland & Knight is pleased to announce that Leighton D. Yates, Jr., a partner in the firm’s Orlando office, and William J. “Bill” Mutryn, a partner in the firm’s Washington, D.C. office, have recently been appointed co-leaders for the firm’s 85-lawyer national Corporate/Mergers and Acquisitions Practice Group.

“Leighton and Bill both have extensive experience successfully representing clients in complex mergers, acquisitions and financing transactions,” said Steven Sonberg, a partner in the Miami office, who chairs the Business Law Section at Holland & Knight. “Our clients and other lawyers throughout the firm will benefit from their leadership role in our national mergers and acquisitions practice.”

Yates, who previously served as the leader of the Orlando office’s business section, practices general corporate, banking, securities and commercial law, with particular emphasis on mergers, acquisitions and financing transactions. Yates has practiced in Central Florida since 1974. He is a member and past chairman of the SunTrust Bank Downtown Orlando’s administrative board. An active community volunteer, he serves as chairman of the board for Florida’s Blood Centers, Inc.

Mutryn represents both private and public companies in mergers and acquisitions, debt and equity financing, stock transactions, joint ventures and complex agreements. He has extensive experience in organizing limited liability companies and partnerships and designing debt and equity structures. He represents regional and national clients in such fields as information technology, health care, government contracting, computer software, environmental, energy, manufacturing, finance and outsourcing.
