WASHINGTON, D.C. – Holland & Knight LLP announced today that Kathryn Lehman, Chief of Staff for the House Republican Conference, is joining the firm’s Public Policy & Regulation Practice as partner in the Washington, D.C., office.

A 15-year veteran of the Hill, Lehman brings significant and wide-ranging experience, having worked closely with the White House, administrative agencies, House and Senate leadership and committees, political committees and other key members of government. Her career began as counsel on the House Judiciary Committee Staff, where she served for eight years. She later served as special assistant to then-Speaker Newt Gingrich (R-GA), as policy director to House Majority Whip Tom DeLay (R-TX), and director of coalitions and outreach for Speaker J. Dennis Hastert (R-IL).

In 2003, she assumed the top post under GOP Conference Chairman Deborah Pryce, managing the fourth-ranking Leadership office in the House of Representatives. In this role she was charged with crafting legislative and floor strategies for House Republicans while earning respect from members on both sides of the aisle.

“Kathryn Lehman is a well-known and highly respected public servant on Capitol Hill. We’re thrilled to have her join our team,” said Rich Gold, leader of Holland & Knight’s Public Policy & Regulation Practice Group. “Her outstanding reputation and tremendous depth of experience will serve our clients well.”

“I have worked with great people on challenging issues in my career on Capitol Hill, and I look forward to continuing to do both at Holland & Knight,” said Lehman.

Lehman earned her J.D. from Columbus School of Law, Catholic University of America, in 1985, and her bachelor’s from Oral Roberts University in 1982. She has been consistently designated by Roll Call newspaper as one of Capitol Hill’s “Fabulous Fifty” most powerful staff members.
