Bradford Kimbro- Tampa

TAMPA, Fla. – A. Brian Albritton, a litigation partner in Holland & Knight's Tampa office, was installed as president of the Tampa Chapter of the Federal Bar Association (FBA) at the chapter's recent annual meeting. Albritton replaces Holland & Knight partner Brad Kimbro, who concluded his one-year term as president.

The Tampa FBA Chapter is the largest in the 11th Circuit, with more than 350 members. In 2007, the chapter hosted or coordinated events including the Federal Sentencing Guidelines Sixteenth Annual National Seminar; a Congressional breakfast; a gala dinner featuring Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito; and a reception with the federal judiciary, their law clerks and staff. The chapter established a Technology Committee this year which presented a Tech Showcase in October. It also promoted continuing education through brown-bag lunches with federal judges on topics such as technology in trials and new criminal and civil rules.

The chapter's activities are designed to benefit not only its members, but also the Tampa Bay community. Through its Pro Bono Civil Litigation Project, the chapter provides pro bono service to litigants in federal court. In August, the chapter's application to the Florida Bar for a Community Service Grant was approved. The grant was the largest awarded and will benefit a re-entry program for recently released federal defendants.

The Tampa Chapter received a 2007 Chapter Activity Presidential Excellence Award from FBA and looks forward to a full agenda in 2008.

Albritton is a trial lawyer whose practice includes white collar criminal defense; claims relating to trade secret theft, noncompetition agreements and other restrictive covenants; and litigation involving telemarketing, direct mail marketing, consumer and unfair and deceptive trade practice claims brought by the Federal Trade Commission and Attorneys General.

Kimbro is a trial lawyer whose practice emphasizes commercial litigation, including actions involving contract disputes, fraud, shareholder disputes, dissenters' rights, directors' and officers' liability, securities, and business torts. He serves as the Executive Partner for Holland & Knight's Tampa Bay region.
