Holland & Knight's Rachel Blechman Receives Volunteer Lawyer Award

MIAMI – Holland & Knight Partner Rachel Blechman was presented with the 2007 "Put Something Back" pro bono Volunteer Lawyers for the Arts Award during the Dade County Bar Association Awards luncheon on May 16, 2007. Put Something Back is a joint pro bono project of the Eleventh Judicial Circuit and the Dade County Bar Association.
Blechman was recognized for her work as president of the Funding Arts Network (FAN), a non-profit organization that promotes Miami-Dade County's cultural environment by offering grants for visual and performing arts programs. The organization is staffed by more than 200 volunteers who have contributed over $2 million in grants since its inception in 1996. Previous grant recipients include the Miami Art Museum, Miami City Ballet, Coconut Grove Playhouse, Florida Grand Opera, Florida Shakespeare Theatre, Concert Association of Florida and the Frost School of Music at the University of Miami.
Blechman, a senior partner at Holland & Knight, is a 25-year member of the corporate department in the firm's Miami office. She has worked with a variety of education and business clients, including public and private universities, education service providers, foundations, hospitals, banks, manufacturers, real estate companies, and telecommunications providers. She is a former chair of the Board of Friends of WLRN public radio and television in Miami and is currently serving a 3-year term on the Florida Humanities Council.
