Holland & Knight Strengthens Land Use Practice with Two New Additions

August 6, 2007

Alice Gregg Haase - Washington

The country's largest land use practice expands its presence in the Mid-Atlantic.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Holland & Knight LLP is pleased to announce the arrival of Julie Cline and Alice Haase to the firm's Land Use practice, the largest in the country. Cline joins the firm as an urban planner, and Haase joins as an associate. Both are resident in Holland & Knight's Northern Virginia office.

Cline brings more than 18 years of experience in planning and development in more than seven jurisdictions in Northern Virginia. A former senior land use planner for Fairfax County, her background also includes residential development for national homebuilder Centex Homes. As entitlement manager for Centex Homes, Cline was responsible for the development of residential projects in addition to the business unity formed to develop infill urban condominium developments throughout the Mid-Atlantic.

Prior to joining Holland & Knight, Cline was affiliated with Centex Homes and with Walsh, Colucci, Lubeley Emrich and Walsh, PC. She is a member of the American Institute of Certified Planners and the American Planning Association. Cline received her MPA from San Diego State University and her bachelor's degree from the University of California at Los Angeles.

Haase's practice focuses on land use and zoning, eminent domain, tax appeals and real estate transactions. She also focuses on affordable housing, and was recognized by Catholics for Housing, a non-profit group based in Northern Virginia, for her contributions to providing workforce-affordable town homes for municipal employees in Prince William County.

Haase has been in the real estate industry for more than 20 years. Complementing her legal experience, Haase brings significant experience as a broker and a commercial appraiser. She was formerly affiliated with Sack Harris and Martin, PC, and with Walsh, Colucci, Lubeley Emrich and Walsh. She earned her JD from The American University, Washington College of Law, and her BS from Vanderbilt University.

"We have assembled a preeminent national real estate team to serve the complex needs of our clients, and the arrival of Julie and Alice fits nicely with our current strategy of enhancing our Mid-Atlantic land use capabilities," said Whayne Quin, Land Use practice group leader of the firm's Mid-Atlantic offices. "We are delighted to have them at our firm."

With more than 200 lawyers, Holland & Knight's Real Estate group is the largest of any firm in the United States. Every year since 2004, the firm's Real Estate Section has been named the leading practice in the Washington, D.C., market by Chambers USA – America''s Leading Business Lawyers.
