Holland & Knight  Assists Client in Acquisition of MetroSouth Medical Center in Blue Island, Illinois

CHICAGO – A team of Holland & Knight attorneys, led by Chicago Partner Anne Murphy, today completed a transaction in which client MSMC Investors LLC acquired St. Francis Hospital and Health Center from SSM Health Care. The historic 410-bed hospital, founded in 1905, was slated for closure after earlier efforts to find a buyer were unsuccessful. The acquisition was successfully completed on an unusually aggressive timetable. The hospital is the largest employer in Blue Island, and is known for its high quality service and excellence in cardiac care.

John Hogan and John Rowley Named Co-Chairs of Holland & Knight's National White Collar Defense Team

MIAMI and WASHINGTON, D.C. – Holland & Knight is pleased to announce that John Hogan and John Rowley have been named co-chairs of the firm's national White Collar Defense Team. They will lead a team of more than 50 lawyers and professionals who are experienced in corporate compliance programs, internal investigations, anti-money laundering laws and compliance, and white collar defense.

Hogan, a partner in the firm's Miami office, also is chair of Holland & Knight's South Florida Litigation Practice Group, which includes offices in Miami, Fort Lauderdale and West Palm Beach. He has tried more than 100 jury trials and has extensive experience assisting corporations with internal investigations and in handling compliance issues. Hogan has successfully represented corporate clients in civil, criminal and administrative proceedings involving health care fraud, securities fraud, money laundering, bank fraud, environmental crime and Foreign Corrupt Practice Act issues. Prior to joining the firm, Hogan spent 20 years as a prosecutor, including serving as Chief of Staff to the Attorney General of the United States. Hogan also served as Chief Assistant State Attorney for Miami-Dade County and as Florida's first Statewide Prosecutor.

Hogan has been recognized for white collar crime and government investigations by Chambers USA, and is listed by Best Lawyers in America in four different categories, including white collar criminal defense, commercial litigation, and corporate governance and compliance law.

Rowley, a partner in Holland & Knight's Northern Virginia and Washington, D.C. offices, is an experienced trial lawyer who focuses on white collar criminal defense and complex civil litigation. He devotes a significant part of his practice to representing government contractors in procurement fraud investigations and False Claims Act cases. He also regularly represents companies in trade secret litigation and in cases involving the protection of intellectual property rights. Prior to joining Holland & Knight in 1997, Rowley was a federal prosecutor with the United States Attorney's Office in Alexandria, Virginia.
