Steven Nesmith - Washington

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Steven Nesmith, a partner in Holland & Knight's Washington, D.C. office, was recently elected by the National Housing Conference member partners to a special one-year term on the Board of Trustees. He will be eligible for re-election for a full two-year term in 2009.

Nesmith is a partner in Holland & Knight's Public Policy and Regulation Practice Group. He concentrates his practice on affordable housing and housing finance issues; new market, low-income housing and historic preservation tax credits; state and local government representation; renewal communities and empowerment zones; international trade and economic development; and post-Katrina redevelopment. He has extensive experience with housing, banking, financial services and international trade issues before Congress, including working with for-profit and non-profit developers, tax syndicators and housing authorities.

About the National Housing Conference: For more than 75 years, the nonprofit NHC has been the nation's premier public policy and affordable housing advocacy organization. A membership drawn from every industry segment forms the foundation for NHC's broad, nonpartisan advocacy for national policies and legislation that promote suitable housing in a safe, decent environment. NHC's nonprofit research affiliate, the Center for Housing Policy, works to broaden understanding of the nation’s housing challenges and to examine the impact of policies and programs developed to address these needs. Combining research and practical, real-world expertise, the Center helps to develop effective policy solutions at the national, state and local levels that increase the availability of affordable homes. www.nhc.org
