Private Wealth Services: Alert - September 3, 2010

The IRS has granted an extension of time through October 15, 2010, for small exempt organizations to file Form 990-N to avoid automatic revocation of tax-exempt status. It has also announced a voluntary compliance program for filers of Form 990-EZ to permit them to act by the same deadline to avoid revocation.

Washington, D.C. – April 26, 2010 – Holland & Knight is pleased to announce that Washington, D.C. Partner Richard Lear, Boston Partner John Monaghan and Boston Associate Diane Rallis, have been selected to receive the Willamette Management Associates 2009 Standard of Excellence Citation award for their article "Ponzi Schemes and Clawbacks: Investors Pay Twice for the Crimes of Others." The article published in the 2009 Summer Issue of Insights.

Willamette Management Associates' Standard of Excellence selection committee selects articles that provide the contribution to and the advancement of current topics associated to financial advisory services professional disciplines, lost profits/economic damages analysis and business/IP valuation. The committee reviews articles and selects award recipients based on 10 criteria that range from originality and technical quality to depth, usefulness and interest.

Richard Lear is a partner in the firm's Washington, D.C. office and practices primarily in the litigation area emphasizing insolvency, Chapter 11, and creditors’ rights and bankruptcy issues.

John Monaghan is a partner in the firm's Boston office and is the national practice group leader of the firms' Corporate Restructuring, Insolvency, and Creditors' Rights Practice Group.

Diane Rallis is an associate in the firm's Boston office and focuses her practice on all aspects of bankruptcy and commercial litigation, with a particular emphasis on representing debtors, secured and unsecured creditors, trustees, and creditors' committees in chapter 11 cases, adversary proceedings, and other bankruptcy-related matters.
