About Dr. Mazure: Carolyn M. Mazure, PhD, is the founder and director of Women’s Health Research at Yale. She created this innovative interdisciplinary program in 1998 to begin to close the historic knowledge gap in women’s health and explore the wide range of conditions that are more prevalent in women or for which causes, treatment and prevention have gender-specific differences. Now in its 11th year, the program has become a national model for fostering interdisciplinary research on women’s health and disseminating findings with practical benefits to the community. An expert on stress and depression in women, Dr Mazure’s research focuses on the biological and physiological differences between men and women and the impact these differences have on illness onset and treatment response.
