ENCSS 2008 Annual Conference

Holland and Knight is co-sponsoring the Environment & Public Health
Network for Chinese Students and Scholars (ENCSS) 2008 Annual
Meeting May 19-22 in Washington, D.C. ENCSS is a formal and highly
influential network of 200 researchers from China placed at
universities and other organizations across the U.S. to investigate
and learn about public health and environmental policy and other
issues.
Among the ENCSS goals are advising senior Chinese
government officials on environmental and health policy, and
coordinating on comparative international research in these areas
based on their observations while in the US. ENCSS annual meetings
are attended by members of the international regulatory community
and multinational corporations. At the 2008 Annual Meeting,
participants also will include representatives of China's Ministry
of Environmental Protection (MEP) and Center for Disease Control
(under the Ministry of Health).
The Chinese delegation for this year's Annual Meeting includes
faculty from Beijing Normal University, the China Academy of
Sciences, the the China Research Academy of Environmental Sciences.
While in Washington, the delegates will participate in the U.S.
Environmental Protection Agency's (U.S. EPA's) Annual Science Forum
and Annual Environmental Partnership Summit, covering U.S. EPA's
pollution prevention, compliance assistance and performance track
programs.
Holland and Knight's involvement reflects the firm's ongoing work
and commitment to the field of Chinese regulatory and government
affairs, focus on environment, health and safety, social
responsibility, and other client compliance and risk issues.
