Holland & Knight Partner Spearheads American Bar Association (ABA) SEER’s One Million Trees Project

Amy L. Edwards- Washington

Washington, DC – Holland & Knight is pleased to announce that one of its partners, Amy L. Edwards, is leading the American Bar Association Section on Environment, Energy and Resources' (SEER’s) One Million Trees Project. The project is a nationwide public service initiative that asks America’s lawyers to plant one million trees across the United States over the next five years.

Edwards, who currently chairs the ABA SEER’s Environmental Transactions and Brownfields Committee, started the project with the help of her committee last fall in hopes of encouraging lawyers to help fight climate change. The project invites lawyers to donate money to one of the ABA SEER's partnering organizations (Alliance for Community Trees, Arbor Day Foundation, American Forests, TreeLink, or TreeBank) or to join in a local tree planting activity to help ABA SEER achieve its goal of planting one million trees by 2014.

“I’m extremely proud of the One Million Trees Project and what it aims to accomplish,” said Edwards. “Climate change is an important issue that America faces today, and by planting trees you can reduce your carbon footprint.” She commended the work done by her Public Service Vice Chairs, Maki Iatridis and Harry Weiss, in getting the initiative off the ground.

Edwards is a partner in Holland & Knight’s Public Policy and Regulation Group, where she serves as co-chair of the firm's national Environment Team as well as its Military Installation Redevelopment Team. Edwards has been practicing environmental and energy law for more than 25 years and routinely counsels developers, lenders and corporations about effective strategies for structuring real estate and corporate transactions to minimize environmental and financial risk.
