William S. Sessions- Washington

Washington, D.C. – Holland & Knight is pleased to announce that Judge William Sessions, a partner in the firm’s Washington office, will be awarded with the Texas Bar Foundation’s 50 year lawyer award. Judge Sessions is one of five recipients of this honor.

The award recognizes attorneys whose practice spans 50 years or more and adhere to the highest principles and traditions of the legal profession and commitment to public service.

Judge Sessions' practice focuses primarily in alternative dispute resolution procedures. He serves as an arbitrator and mediator for the American Arbitration Association, the International Center for Dispute Resolution and for the CPR Institute of Dispute Resolution as a District Panelist, National Panelist of Distinguished Neutrals and on the Arbitration Appeal Panel.

Following 10 years of private practice with the firm of Haley, Fulbright, Winniford, Sessions & Bice in Waco, Texas, Judge Sessions served as the Section Chief of the Government Operations Section of the Criminal Division of the Department of Justice in Washington, D.C.; the United States Attorney for the Western District of Texas; United States District Judge for the Western District of Texas; Chief Judge of that court; and as the Director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation appointed by President Ronald Reagan. In 2008, Judge Sessions was awarded the Chesterfield Smith Partner Award, and was honored by the Constitution Project for his support of the role of law and for his efforts to counter injustices in the legal system.
