Judge Rules In-House Chief Patent Counsel Is Protected by Age Bias Law

Labor and Employment Practice Group Partner Michael Starr was quoted in the September 3 ABA Journal article titled, "Judge Rules In-House Chief Patent Counsel Is Protected by Age Bias Law."

The article discusses the Aug. 27 case of Robert Raymond, chief patent counsel and vice president for intellectual property at Boehringer Ingelheim Pharmaceuticals. U.S. District Judge Vanessa Bryant of Connecticut ruled that Raymond's forced retirement violated the law barring age discrimination because he did not qualify as an executive who is exempted from protection.
