Jeffrey Kuta is widely recognized in the field of affordable housing and community investment, finance and development. His practice includes tax credits, other government assistance and debt financing of real estate and business development in large urban and smaller low-income areas. He has substantial experience representing syndicators and investors, financial institutions and real estate developers for over 25 years in creating programs and structuring and closing transactions using the Federal Low-Income Housing Tax Credit, New Markets Tax Credit and Historic Rehabilitation Tax Credit. His work extends to a number of related areas, including urban redevelopment, public/private partnerships, nonprofit organizations, condominiums and other common ownership structures, and preservation and conservation easements.

In his work Mr. Kuta brings together real estate law and mortgage finance, equity syndications, partnerships and joint ventures, securities law and tax law. He has pioneered legal techniques adopted by the tax credit syndication industry, chaired the American Bar Association’s committee on affordable housing and community development, served on civic and governmental committees in his field and taught a law school master’s degree course in affordable housing syndications. His work includes the creation of several national and local Low-Income Housing Tax Credit and New Markets Tax Credit investment funds and the redevelopment of the historic Chicago Theater.ns.
