Andrea Sumits is Of Counsel in Holland & Knight’s Government Section in the San Francisco office. She advises domestic and international clients in the development, semiconductor, electronics, automotive, biotechnology, pharmaceutical, energy and general manufacturing industries. Her experience covers a wide range of federal statutes and related state and local laws, including Clean Air Act, RCRA, CERCLA, Clean Water Act, NEPA/CEQA, Endangered Species Act, OSHA, and TSCA.
Ms. Sumits’ practice includes:
- EH&S permitting and compliance counseling
- compliance and management systems auditing
- enforcement and investigation counseling and representation
- land use and resource agency permitting
- developing internal EH&S audit programs conforming to state and federal audit policies
- design and implementation of environmental management systems (EMS) conforming to international standards such as ISO 14001
- representation of clients during EMS certification and surveillance audits
- counseling companies and governmental agencies in connection with environmental regulatory innovation and reinvention projects
- product stewardship and product regulatory compliance
- sustainability programs and training
