Benjamin M. McGovern is a member of the firm's Litigation Practice Group, practicing in the area of general civil litigation. Mr. McGovern has advised clients in a wide variety of complex commercial disputes, including litigation relating to contracts, business torts, intellectual property, real property disputes, professional malpractice, the unauthorized practice of law, housing discrimination and environmental compliance.

Mr. McGovern has represented clients in federal and in state courts at both the trial and appellate level. In his practice, Mr. McGovern has appeared on behalf of clients at bench and jury trials, briefed and argued dispositive motions, conducted depositions, managed large document productions, and identified and prepared experts. His experience also includes advising clients on electronic discovery obligations under the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure.

Prior to joining Holland & Knight, Mr. McGovern served as a judicial clerk for the Honorable Justice Joseph A. Grasso, Jr. of the Massachusetts Appeals Court.

While in law school, Mr. McGovern was elected executive editor of the Boston College Environmental Affairs Law Review, and authored an article that was cited by the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court in the published opinion of Commonwealth v. Clemmey, 447 Mass. 121 (2006).
