Donald A. Goldsmith practices in the area of exempt organizations, estate planning, trust and estate administration and dispute resolution.
Mr. Goldsmith has developed sophisticated estate plans for many high-net-worth clients, advised privately held companies on pre-public offering estate planning structures and set up tax-efficient investment vehicles for high-net-worth clients. He has administered several complex large estates in New York and other jurisdictions, and represented clients in a variety of forums in connection with disputed matters, including probate courts in several jurisdictions and the U.S. Tax Court.
In addition, he has served as outside general counsel to the Doris Duke Charitable Foundation, the Wallace Foundation (previously the Wallace-Reader’s Digest Funds) and The American Foundation for the Blind.
While at Columbia University School of Law, Mr. Goldsmith was a Harlan Fiske Stone Scholar.
