David A. Koempel is an associate in the syndication practice group and also practices in the areas of private equity financing, federal taxation, mergers and acquisitions, and general corporate and business law.

Mr. Koempel concentrates his practice in tax and business transactions with an emphasis on real estate syndication, partnership law and private equity financing of partnerships and limited liability companies. He has extensive experience representing large syndicators in low-income housing tax credit investments and HOPE VI and Mixed Finance transactions. Mr. Koempel also represents clients in connection with private equity investments in timber and forestry assets, including the formation of a $175 million private timber investment fund in 2007.

Before practicing law, Mr. Koempel lived in Hong Kong for over seven years working in the international air transportation industry and the live entertainment and recording industries
