Erin A. Webb is a Senior Associate in the Labor & Employment group. She concentrates her practice in the areas of employment litigation, counseling and labor law. Ms. Webb represents employers in labor and employment-related lawsuits in federal and state courts and in investigations and charges filed with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, the Florida Commission on Human Relations, and other state and local civil rights and wage and hour commissions. She has defended employers in lawsuits involving discrimination and harassment claims under Title VII of the Civil Rights Act (including race, sex, religion and national origin), the Age Discrimination in Employment Act, and the Americans With Disabilities Act, the Family and Medical Leave Act, and wage and hour disputes under the Fair Labor Standards Act and is also an experienced general litigator. She has also represented employers in union-related matters including collective bargaining negotiations, grievances, arbitrations, and charges of unfair labor practices.
Prior to joining Holland & Knight, Ms. Webb worked in the private sector as in-house labor and employment and litigation counsel for both a U.S. conglomerate and a major Florida corporation where she regularly instituted and implemented employment-related decisions and policies. As a result of this experience, Ms. Webb understands the risks and realities employers encounter in the day-to-day operations of their businesses and recognizes, from an employer's perspective, how to deal with these issues.
Ms. Webb utilizes this practical experience when advising clients on such issues as hiring, background checks, drug testing, conducting investigations into complaints of harassment and/or discrimination, wage and hour issues, leave requests, documentation for personnel files, termination, site closures and acquisitions, as well as other applicable federal, state, and local laws. Ms. Webb also drafts employee handbooks, personnel policies, procedures, and forms and provides management and employee training. She also has extensive experience in drafting and defending non-competition and confidentiality agreements.
