Frances Gail Faigenblat focuses her practice in the areas of corporate and international law. She represents foreign clients in connection with U.S. matters as well as domestic companies with their international expansion. Ms. Faigenblat particularly provides legal advice on incorporating a foreign business or subsidiary and the ancillary issues connected to the commencement of business overseas, such as trademark, licensing and distribution, and general corporate transactions. She has been involved in numerous significant mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures and other business transactions in the U.S., Latin America and Europe. Her understanding of numerous international legal systems provides her with a unique perspective on structuring transactions, as well as her ability to advise the client on multiple systems of law.
Ms. Faigenblat has particular experience in representing multinational firms doing business in Latin America and the Caribbean in the areas of labor, corporate, tax, and contracts such as joint venture, asset/stock purchase, distribution, and licensing agreements. As her representation of clients has expanded internationally, she has developed contacts with local counsel and financial advisors throughout Latin America and the Caribbean. Additionally, Ms. Faigenblat’s practice has extended to the areas of commodities, concessions and telecommunications through her representation of multinational clients in acquisitions or expansions into Latin America and the Caribbean.
Ms. Faigenblat received formal education in the common law and civil law systems while attending Tulane Law School and completed studies in Puerto Rico’s civil law. The combination of work experience and formal education in the American and Puerto Rican legal systems gives her a distinctive outlook on the inner workings and inter-relations of these. Ms. Faigenblat has an in-depth understanding of the North American and Latin American cultures.
