Harold A. Segall, a member of the Private Wealth Services group, practices in the areas of corporate and commercial law and trusts and estates. He is experienced in the organization and financing of enterprises; the purchase and sale of companies; the organization and activities of joint ventures; and counseling clients with respect to antitrust compliance and other important business areas, including the avoidance of litigation and the overall management of litigation.
Mr. Segall acts as a fiduciary of trusts and estates.
Mr. Segall represented the Government Development Bank of Puerto Rico in negotiating major Note Purchase Agreements for the agencies of Puerto Rico, and in other financing matters, and also represented other important enterprises in Puerto Rico, including Caribbean Refining Company and, later, certain matters for Commonwealth Oil Refining Company, the organization, leasing and affairs of the company owning the Puerto Rico Sheraton Hotel and the purchase and sale of Puerto Rico businesses.
Mr. Segall was a visiting lecturer at the Yale Law School from 1974 to 1975 and at the Yale School of Organization and Management from 1983 to 1985. Mr. Segall was a visiting lecturer and adjunct professor at Fordham Law School during the spring of 2001. Mr. Segall also has given seminars to law firms and has written extensively.
He was counsel to The Governors Club, New York, from its inception under Governor Rockefeller until the completion of Governor Wilson's term.
While attending law school, Mr. Segall was a member of the Order of the Coif and editor of the Yale Law Journal from 1939 to 1941.
