Howard J. Castleman concentrates his practice in complex commercial litigation in the federal and state courts. His practice encompasses a broad spectrum of substantive areas including intellectual property, real estate and tax litigation matters. He has handled litigation involving patents, trademarks, trade secrets, trade dress and copyrights in a variety of areas. Additionally, he has tried cases involving unfair competition, breach of contract, non-competition agreements, fraud and products liability.
Mr. Castleman also counsels clients in strategies for the development, protection and exploitation of intellectual property rights. He has experience in an array of industries including computer programming, chemicals, graphic media, medical devices, financial publishing and educational services. He also represents clients with government investigations involving regulatory compliance and environmental liabilities.
In the community, Mr. Castleman serves from time to time as a faculty member for various continuing legal education courses, and serves on the civil litigation curriculum advisory committee for Massachusetts Continuing Legal Education, Inc., a non-profit organization.
Before starting private practice, he worked as law clerk to the Honorable Ronald R. Lagueux, United States District Court Judge for the District of Rhode Island.
