Jason D. Lazarus practices in the firm's Litigation Department. His practice includes the representation of corporate and individual clients of the firm in wide ranging contractual and business disputes. Mr. Lazarus has experience handling partnership and shareholder disputes, real-estate disputes, representation of financial institutions in areas of collection, foreclosure and creditors' rights, defending financial institutions and portfolio managers in connection with their investment management practices and representation of life insurance companies in coverage disputes. Mr. Lazarus also has experience litigating matters concerning deceptive and unfair trade practices, RICO, fraud, tortious interference with business relations, non-compete agreements, negligence, and other general contract and commercial claims.
Mr. Lazarus has substantial trial experience. Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Lazarus was an Assistant State Attorney for the 4th Judicial Circuit in Jacksonville, Florida from 1998 to 2001. During his tenure as an Assistant State Attorney, Mr. Lazarus investigated and prosecuted a variety of felony cases, and tried over 30 jury trials and dozens of non-jury trials.
While in law school, Mr. Lazarus served as Senior Notes and Comments Editor of the Florida Law Review. His student note won the Gertrude Brick Outstanding Note Award and was published in the Florida Law Review.
