Jennifer A. Short is a litigation Partner who focuses her practice on commercial litigation disputes and white collar matters, including internal investigations and voluntary disclosures. She primarily represents companies and individuals in responding to government inquiries, defending False Claims Act and other charges, and negotiating resolutions of civil and criminal enforcement actions. In addition, Ms. Short works with companies to develop corporate compliance programs that allow for the prevention, early detection, and resolution of compliance issues.
Recent representative matters include:
- defending a government contractor in a criminal investigation of its hiring and bid proposal practices
- representing a hospital during an investigation of its Medicare billing practices
- enforcing a teaming agreement between a prime and subcontractor working at a Navy/Air Force facility
- conducting an internal investigation of potential regulatory violations and negotiating a settlement with the government through voluntary disclosure proceedings
- litigating a business dispute between members of an LLC involving an attempted squeeze out and financial fraud
- advising a government contractor on the enforceability of its teaming agreements
- representing a foreign government in a breach of contract action against a U.S. government contractor
- defending a foreign corporation against claims of patent infringement
