Lynn C. Washington practices in the firm's tax department. Mr. Washington has extensive experience in the areas of taxation and corporate and partnership transactions, compensation of executives, stock option plans, syndication of real estate transactions (including, but not limited to, Low Income Housing Tax Credits), representation of tax exempt organizations, and Tax Court litigation. He has also been involved in the structuring, development and capital formation of start-up businesses, and provides legal assistance to clients from start-up stage to expanded growth of businesses.
Mr. Washington works with the firm's Corporate Department on public and private offerings, tax exempt bond offerings and mergers and acquisitions. He is actively involved in the representation of developers of affordable housing units throughout the state of Florida.
In June of 1993, he was selected by Governor Lawton Chiles to serve on the Governor's Study Commission on Property Insurance and Reinsurance, a commission created to study the impact of Hurricane Andrew on the insurance industry and the insured customers of Florida.
Prior to entering private practice, Mr. Washington was an attorney in the Office of District Counsel for the Internal Revenue Service for four years. He was also a Special Assistant United States Attorney, Middle District of Florida, representing the United States in tax matters in Bankruptcy Court.
