Michael Galano is a member of Holland & Knight LLP’s Public Policy and Regulation Group and focuses on federal public law and the federal appropriations process.
On the appropriations front, Mr. Galano counsels local and tribal governments, non-profit organizations, trade associations, and corporations on how to achieve favorable funding and policy results through the federal appropriations process. Mr. Galano has been successful in achieving federal funding for a wide variety of projects ranging from road projects in SAFETEA-LU, to police technology upgrades, to stormwater and water projects. Mr. Galano has contributed articles to numerous publications on various topics including water rights law, local-state-federal intergovernmental relations and procurement opportunities with the federal government.
Prior to entering private practice, Mr. Galano served as a legislative aide to former United States Congressman Dick Zimmer (R-NJ). In this capacity, he was the Congressman's advisor on issues involving the environment, energy, transportation, crime, defense, appropriations, and matters before the Ways & Means Committee. Mr. Galano has also worked on the campaigns for candidates for the United States House of Representatives and the United States Senate.
