Michael J. Ranallo is a Co-Leader of the Labor and Employment Practice Group of the Chicago office of Holland & Knight. For nearly 25 years, Mr. Ranallo has exclusively represented a wide range of companies in various industries in labor and employment matters. Mr. Ranallo's employment litigation experience is extensive. He has tried a number of cases in federal and state courts across the country, including cases involving claims of discrimination, retaliation, wrongful discharge and trade secret violations. Mr. Ranallo also had tried cases before state administrative agencies and the National Labor Relations Board. In addition, Mr. Ranallo had defended employers in numerous arbitration hearings.
Apart from Mr. Ranallo's extensive labor and employment litigation experience, he also provides day-to-day consultation services to employers to help them avoid employment problems under federal and state employment discrimination laws, wage and hour laws, and other laws governing the workplace. As part of his consultation experience, Mr. Ranallo has assisted employers with the implementation of human resources manuals, employee handbooks, anti-harassment policies, drug and alcohol prevention programs, employment contracts, non-competition agreements, severance agreements, reduction-in-force and plant shutdown programs, and alternative dispute resolution plans.
Over the years, Mr. Ranallo has spoken extensively at trade association, bar association and other seminars on a wide variety of labor and employment law topics. He also has written a number of articles on developments in employment law and employer compliance issues.
