Matthew Z. Zimmerman is a trial attorney. He concentrates in the areas of commercial litigation, specifically contract litigation, fraudulent misrepresentation and inducement, defamation, and trade secret and non-compete litigation. He has handled both state and federal jury and bench trials.
He is experienced in cases involving trade secret and non-compete litigation. He has handled cases seeking damages for the misappropriation of intellectual property as well as cases seeking protection of intellectual property, including by seeking temporary restraining orders and temporary and permanent injunctions.
Mr. Zimmerman's commercial litigation experience includes claims involving breach of contract, fraud, negligence, wrongful death, bad faith, defamation, civil conspiracy, misappropriation of trade secrets, breach of fiduciary duty, interference with business relationships, non-compete agreements, products liability, arbitration issues and injunctive relief. Prior to joining Holland & Knight, Mr. Zimmerman gained significant litigation and trial experience representing employers and insurance companies.
In the community, Mr. Zimmerman serves on the Advisory Council for Starlight Starbright Children's Foundation and chairs one of their three signature events. He has also done notable pro bono work advocating on behalf of Florida's abused and neglected children as a Guardian Ad Litem and handling Landlord-Tenant disputes for Three Rivers Legal Services.
