Roxan Althea Kerr is an associate in the Washington, DC office of Holland & Knight where her practice involves all facets of general litigation. However, she concentrates in the areas of commercial and real estate disputes. Her commercial and contract litigation experience includes matters pertaining to breach of contract, fraud, violation of New York and the District of Columbia's consumer protection act, tortious interference with contract, civil conspiracy, tortious interference with economic opportunities, misrepresentation, and defamation. Ms. Kerr's real estate litigation experience includes bringing and defending actions pertaining to commercial lease disputes, condemnation of property, specific performance of purchase and sale agreements, possession of commercial property, and reformation of deeds of trust. Ms. Kerr has also defended clients against suits pertaining to the Interstate Land Sales Full Disclosure Act, nuisance, zoning violation, negligence, and breach of right of first refusal and right of first offer. Ms Kerr has represented clients in court or in arbitration in New York, Maryland, and the District of Columbia.
Before joining Holland & Knight as an associate, Ms. Kerr had a career as a teacher where she taught eighth grade science in New Carrollton, MD and served as a Science Coordinator in New York, NY. Ms. Kerr has extensive experience in developing and implementing workshops and strategies geared toward group dynamics and team building.
Ms. Kerr earned her juris doctorate, cum laude, in 2002 from American University’s, Washington College of Law where she served as a member of the American University Law Review. She received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology with a concentration in Science from Spelman College, Atlanta, GA in 1993.
In the community, Ms. Kerr takes great pride in working with community groups offering free legal advice and services to residents of the District of Columbia.
