Robert J. Beckham has maintained a general trial practice for 45 years, earlier focusing on personal injury, wrongful death, and railroad and federal employers' liability law. The governor and the cabinet of the State of Florida retained Mr. Beckham twice to handle significantly substantial matters regarding state leases of mining/mineral rights in Florida’s bodies of water, establishing unfettered state ownership of them and narrowing the scope of the leases. He has represented judges of Florida appellate courts before the Judicial Qualifications Commission and served as chairman of the Judicial Nominating Commission for nominees to the Supreme Court of Florida.
In addition to trying hundreds of jury cases, on three occasions Mr. Beckham has had cases before the U.S. Supreme Court; he argued and briefed two of these matters.
