Rachel S. Blechman practices in the corporate area concentrating on employment law and matters concerning educational institutions.
Ms. Blechman has worked with a variety of education and business clients, including public and private universities, education service providers, foundations, hospitals, banks, manufacturers, real estate companies, and telecommunications providers.
Ms. Blechman counsels employers on issues related to terminations, hires, promotions, workplace violence, harassment, and discrimination in the workplace based on age, sex, religion, race and handicap. She drafts and reviews personnel manuals and policies, including policies against drug use and sexual harassment. She also drafts employment, separation, confidentiality and non-competition agreements. In addition, Ms. Blechman conducts seminars for managers and supervisors on the laws governing the workplace.
In the educational arena, Ms. Blechman has had experience with a broad range of legal services needed by post secondary educational institutions. She provides legal services in student matters (including drafting and implementing codes of conduct, assisting the institution with student claims, student housing issues, transcript and records issues and academic disputes); academic matters (including faculty, tenure and promotion issues, academic freedom, joint educational programs, and internships); administrative and financial matters (including bid disputes, joint ventures, and contracts for goods and services); and governance matters (including assistance on the development of faculty bylaws).
Ms. Blechman served as a clerk intern for The Honorable William Hoeveler of the United States District Court for the Southern District of Florida.
