Richard Pincus has devoted his entire professional career to the practice of labor and employment law. Prior to entering private practice, he served as a trial and supervisory attorney with the National Labor Relations Board. Since entering private practice, he has handled a broad range of issues for employers including numerous employment cases before administrative agencies and federal trial and appellate courts, dealing with race, age, sex and disability discrimination. He also has devoted a substantial portion of his practice dealing with traditional labor matters including union organizing campaigns, arbitrations and collective bargaining. His client base includes employers in the health care, construction, newspaper and retail industries.
Mr. Pincus also is a frequent lecturer, writer and bar association leader. Mr. Pincus has served as an adjunct professor of law at the Illinois Institute of Technology, Chicago Kent-College of Law.
COLLECTIVE BARGAINING EXPERIENCE
Served as chief spokesperson and attorney in the negotiations and administration of in excess of 50 collective bargaining agreements including among others, the following:
* Marquette General Hospital and Michigan Nurses Association (successive 3-year agreements beginning in 1972 through and including the current agreement which expires on May 31, 2010);
* Illinois Landscape Contractors Bargaining Association and Teamsters Local 703 (2-3 contracts between the mid-80's and early 1990's);
* Illinois Landscape Contractors Bargaining Association and Local 707, National Production Workers Union (successive 3-year contracts beginning in approximately 1985 through and including the most recent contract which expires in 2009);
* Illinois Landscape Contractors Bargaining Association and Local 150 International Union of Operating Engineers (successive 3-year contracts beginning in approximately 1985 through and including the most recent contract which expires on November 30, 2008);
* Illinois Landscape Contractors Bargaining Association and Teamster Local 703 and Local 150, International Union of Operating Engineers, as joint representatives of landscape plantsmen, truck drivers and helpers; two 3-year contracts with the current contract scheduled to expire on December 31, 2009);
* Aetna Plywood and Teamsters Local 710 (contracts negotiated in the late 1970's and early 1980's);
* Andrea Sportswear and ILGWU (three successive 3-year contracts negotiated in the mid-1970's into the early 1980's);
* Dakota Cable Communications and the Communications Workers of America (3-year contract negotiated in 1997);
* Dependable Storage, Inc. and Teamsters Local 714 (single contract 1998—2001);
* Custom Tapes and Teamsters Local 743 (successive 3-year agreements negotiated during 1980's);
* Provena Saint Joseph Medical Center and IBEW (3-year contract in 2002);
* Justrite Manufacturing and United Steel Workers of America (successive 3-year contracts in 1980's and early 1990's);
* Also assisted in drafting and advising the following clients in connection with negotiation of following collective bargaining agreements:
v Chicago Sun-Times and Chicago Newspaper Guild;
v The Gary Post-Tribune and the Newspaper Guild and Post-Tribune negotiations with the Pressman's Union;
v Pioneer Press and the Chicago Newspaper Guild and other unions;
v Sears, Roebuck and Co. and the Teamsters, IBEW and other labor organizations in its retail and product services facilities throughout the United States.
