Sanford L. Bohrer practices in the area of civil litigation, emphasizing media and communication law, appeals, business torts, intellectual property disputes, employment discrimination, and class actions. He has participated in virtually every major media case arising in South Florida or reaching the Florida Supreme Court, representing the press at oral argument before the Court on four such occasions. Among these cases were leading cases in defamation, reporter's privilege, press access to judicial proceedings, and press access to government-held records. He has represented publishers and broadcasters in approximately 100 defamation, privacy, and intellectual property cases.
Prior to joining Holland & Knight, while in private practice, Mr. Bohrer served as Special Assistant Attorney General of Florida (1987-89) in connection with a land ownership dispute with Mobil Oil Corporation and the Florida citrus canker litigation.
Mr. Bohrer has taught communications law and civil trial advocacy and founded Florida's First Amendment Hotline.
