Sidney G. Saltz practices in the area of commercial real estate and a member of the firm's Chicago Real Estate Practice Group.
Prior to commencing the private practice of law, Mr. Saltz clerked for J. Edward Lumbard, the Chief Judge of the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit, in New York City.
Mr. Saltz has be involved with substantially all aspects of commercial real estate, including development, leasing, acquisitions and sales and financing. For example, Mr. Saltz handled all the legal work in connection with the land acquisition, construction, financing, leasing and disposition of a 1.2-million-square-foot office and retail complex in a Chicago suburb.
He has represented landlords in leasing tens of millions of square feet of industrial space over 40 years and also has represented numerous tenants and property purchasers, including transactions for such clients as Packaging Corporation of America, Continental Grain Company, Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations, Ready Pac Produce, DeBartolo Development, Chicago Union Station and AMTRAK, and Pennsylvania State Employees' Retirement System. He is particularly gratified to have represented the American Bar Association when it relocated its offices to Lake Shore Drive in Chicago. He has represented numerous borrowers in connection with construction and permanent financing, and has represented such lenders as Southern Farm Bureau Life Insurance Company, The Northern Trust Company and LaSalle Bank.
Mr. Saltz has lectured and written extensively on real estate related subjects.
