Steve Varick is a member of the firm's Chicago office. For more than 30 years, Mr. Varick has litigated a wide range of matters, trying cases to juries and judges in scores of substantive areas, including securities litigation and arbitration, insurance coverage claims, antitrust claims and counseling, shareholder disputes, and other forms of business litigation. He has extensive experience in all phases of the trial process from emergency injunction hearings through trial and appeal, including appeals to the Illinois and Federal Courts of Appeals and the United States Supreme Court. Representative recent successes include the following:
- 2009 - Judgment in favor of our manufacturer client, after trial in federal court over liability of client for $2.1 million judgment against co-defendant.
- 2009 - Judgment on injunction claims against real estate developer client seeking to block sale of $22 million building in Illinois court.
- 2008 - Arbitration decision in favor of our large financial service client in $5 million claim for contractual compensation and option value by former broker.
- 2008 - Judgment for trade association client on copyright and trademark claims after trial in federal court; affirmed on appeal.
- 2008 - Order for trade association client allowing merger with complementary association, after trial in Illinois court.
Mr. Varick also handles arbitration and mediation, both as an advocate and an arbitrator.
