Stacy Watson May practices environmental law in the Jacksonville and Orlando offices. She also serves as coordinator of Holland & Knight's Women's Initiative for the Jacksonville office. Prior to joining Holland & Knight, Stacy served as in-house counsel with CSX Transportation, the largest railroad in the eastern United States. In her practice, she has counseled clients in environmental compliance and enforcement actions across multiple states as well as at the federal level, regularly negotiating reduced penalties. Those government agencies include the USEPA, FRA, DOT, FDEP, OEPA, MDEQ, and many others, regarding dust, hazardous materials handling and waste permits.
Ms. Watson May has represented property owners in litigation and transactions involving the purchase, sale and redevelopment of environmentally impacted properties, including due diligence in mergers and acquisitions, property acquisition for significant residential, commercial and condominium developments and condominium conversions. She has handled numerous CERCLA matters including litigation and remediation projects. She has upgraded environmental reserve procedures to meet the Sarbanes-Oxley requirements as well as updated a complex environmental management system. She has also handled litigation involving environmental justice claims, indoor air quality issues, Legionnaires' disease, OSHA enforcement actions, toxic torts, and class actions.
Ms. Watson May is a state certified Circuit Mediator in all judicial circuits of the State of Florida. She serves as a committe member of the Mentor Program of the Fourth Judicial Circuit in Jacksonville and as a guest lecturer at the Florida Coastal School of Law.
