Warren M. Cason practices in the areas of corporate finance, banking/financial institutions, and public finance. Mr. Cason began his career in 1950 as an associate with an Orlando firm. From 1952-60, he was a partner in the Tampa firm of McEwen & Cason, then opened his own law offices in 1961. That practice evolved into Cason, Henderson & Baker, which continued until 1989 at which time he joined Holland & Knight. He served as Hillsborough County attorney from 1964-73 and as Tampa city attorney in 1978 and 1979. From 1960-65, he represented the west coast of Florida as a member of the State Road Board (now the Department of Transportation). Also, he was a former member of the Public Service Commission Nominating Council.
Mr. Cason has been extensively involved in the business community. He is a former chairman and president of Brandon State Bank, former chairman of the Bank of Riverview and SunBank of Tampa Bay, and former chairman of its Executive Committee. Also, he is a former member of the boards of directors of SunBanks, Inc. and SunTrust Banks, Inc. and is former chairman of the Compensation Committees of SunBanks, Inc. and SunTrust Banks, Inc. He is presently a member of the Emeritus Board of Directors, SunTrust Bank, Tampa Bay.
In recent years. Mr. Cason served his alma mater as special counsel to the President, president of the University of Florida Foundation and the University of Florida National Alumni Association. He sits on the board of trustees of the University of Florida Law Center, Inc., of which he is a former chairman. He is a former director of the University of Florida Athletic Association and presently is a member of the Board of Directors of the Gator Boosters, Inc., University of Florida Foundation. He is also a past president of Kappa Alpha social fraternity.
In World War II, Mr. Cason served in the United States Navy in the Pacific theater.
While at the University of Florida, he was a member of the Phi Delta Phi legal fraternity. He is married to the former Dorothy Cone and they have four children.
