William J. Honan practices in the Litigation Section and heads the Maritime Practice Group. Mr. Honan has 38 years of experience in maritime law especially related to maritime contracts.

Mr. Honan has extensive experience in the maritime industry, including:

  • drafting and negotiating a wide variety of maritime contracts including tanker, dry bulk and cruise vessel charters,
  • advising as to the tour and cruise industry especially as to the rights and obligations of the tour or cruise operator vis a vis the passenger
  • handling arbitrations (more than one hundred arbitrations to conclusion)
  • obtaining security for claimants especially under Rule B and Rule C of the Supplement Maritime Rules

Mr. Honan has written articles featured in Lloyd's of London Press and Seatrade and speaks often on a variety of subjects concerning maritime law.
