Grant McCorkhill is a partner in the Chicago office of Holland & Knight. He is experienced in all aspects of commercial real estate. Mr. McCorkhill represents real estate developers, investors and pension funds in the acquisition, development, joint venture formation, TIF funding, leasing and disposition for all manner of office buildings, commercial properties, retail properties, hotels and shopping centers.

He also represents financial institutions and borrowers in commercial and real estate loan transactions, including negotiation, documentation and enforcement.

Mr. McCorkhill’s recent experience includes:

  • Representing an Illinois pension fund in the acquisition of a $125 million office building in Washington, D.C.
  • Representing a Chicago bank in the sale of a foreclosed $23 million office building in suburban Chicago.
  • Representing a joint venture in the structuring, negotiation and documentation of a new $300 million Chicago condominium and hotel skyscraper.
  • Representing a purchaser in the negotiation, due diligence and closing on the acquisition of a 64 store grocery store chain.
  • Representing a developer in the redevelopment and conversion of a historic office building on Michigan Avenue in Chicago into a hotel, including negotiation of the construction loan, TIF funding, Historic Tax Credit sale financing, as well as joint venture documentation.
  • Representing a real estate developer in restructuring the ownership and leasing of multiple branch bank facilities with a national lender as tenant in the Chicago, Illinois metropolitan area. This included lease renegotiation, lease terminations, acquisitions and exchanges.
  • Representing real estate developers and investors in the development of numerous shopping centers in the Chicago area and throughout the U.S.
  • Representing a joint venture in the negotiation of a license for use of the name of a nationally known real estate developer for condominium developments in Chicago and Tel Aviv, Israel.
  • Representing a Chicago bank in the negotiation, documentation and closing of a $50 million construction loan.

    Mr. McCorkhill is a member of the Chicago Bar Association (Sections on Banking and Real Estate Law), the American Bar Association and the International Council of Shopping Centers.
