Hector Sequelis Taboada is legal counsel for Mexican and foreign entities and companies dealing with financial and banking, securities, project finance and structured financings, telecommunications, energy, mergers & acquisitions, corporate, real estate and foreign investment matters.

Mr. Sequelis joined Gallástegui y Lozano, S.C. as of counsel, in 2007.

Relevant Experience

  • Provided outside legal counsel to a licensed infrastructure company in the securitization of its revenues in order to complete the construction and equipment of a toll highway located in the States of Nayarit and Sinaloa.
  • Participated in the structuring, implementation and acquisition by a Dutch Bank of the subordinated tranche of securities (certificados bursatiles) issued by a accounts receivable fund created by a transnational company involved in the glass industry.
  • Acted as external legal counsel of a Mexican affiliate of a Spanish Bank in the financing structure for the construction and equipment of a shopping mall located in Puebla.
  • Provided outside legal counsel to a major telecommunications conglomerate in connection with the acquisition of a stake of the capital stock of data division by a strategic partner.
  • Participated in the implementation of a vendor financing structure used for the installation and take-off of a nation-wide wireless telecommunications network.


Hector Sequelis was born in Mexico City, on December 14, 1972 and obtained its law degree at the Escuela Libre de Derecho in Mexico City, on 1996. In 1997, he completed postgraduate studies in International Legal Business System (“El Sistema Legal Internacional de Negocios”) from the Escuela Libre de Derecho and published the essay “Análisis de la Conferencia del Cairo Sobre Población y Desarrollo” (Analyisis of the Cairo Conference for the Population and Development).

In 1998, he obtained postgraduate studies of Telecommunications Law from the Universidad Complutense in Madrid, Spain, and he finished on 2005, postgraduate studies in Energy Law at the Universidad Iberoamericana, in Mexico City.

Mr. Sequelis was law clerk at Sequelis Marcial, S.C. from 1991 to 1994. He was an associate of the law firm Von Wobeser y Sierra, S.C. from 1994 to 1996 and of González Calvillo y Forastieri, S.C. from 1996 to 2001. In 2001, he founded the law firm Sequelis y López Mestre, S.C.

Prior to joining Gallastegui y Lozano, S.C., Mr. Sequelis was a partner at the law firm Forastieri Abogados, S.C. from 2003 to 2007.
