Beyond cash: Cuba now ready for U.S.-issued credit cards

Many U.S. ventures and business owners have shown interest in looking for future opportunities in Cuba, especially as regulations loosen, but getting money into Cuba is a significant undertaking. Stonegate Bank recently announced the worldwide MasterCard credit card, making it the first bank to offer credit cards usable in Cuba. Attorney Andres Fernandez elaborates on the importance of this new development.
“In this ‘New Cuba’ age since January 2015, we’ve had instances where we had to pay vendors in Cuba, all for completely authorized reasons,” Mr. Fernandez said. “We are having a hard time making those payments.”
