Holland & Knight Advises Bladex on $40 Million Syndicated Loan to Peru’s Banco Financiero

NEW YORK (December 19, 2014) – Holland & Knight served as counsel to Banco Latinoamericano de Comercio Exterior, S.A. (Bladex) as administrative agent and sole lead arranger of a six-bank syndicate, on a $40 million syndicated secured loan to Peru's Banco Financiero. The loan was secured by a portion of Banco Financiero’s trade finance portfolio in Peru.

Bladex, a supranational bank established by the central banks of Latin American and Caribbean countries, was joined in the transaction by Banco Aliado, Bancaribe Curaçao Bank, ICBC Peru Bank, KfW IPEX-Bank and Multibank. The transaction closed on November 26, 2014.

Bladex and the lenders were represented by Holland & Knight partner Stephen Double and associate Carlos Meza in New York. The law firm of Muñiz, Ramirez, Perez-Taiman & Olaya Abogados advised Bladex and the lenders as to Peruvian law on the transaction.

"The transaction represented another example of the strong growth of the Bladex Latin America syndicated loan business, in particular in Peru," noted Mr. Double.
