The team, which includes Partners Jeff Lee, David Iacuzio, Joseph Barnette, Mark Arinci and Christopher Boothe, focuses on real estate development and finance. The team also includes Senior Counsels Frank Coman and Mark Carlson; Associates Jill Bustamante, Sarah Hartsfield, Jesse Roisin and Mary Ritten; and contract attorney Craig Macauley. All of the lawyers were previously with Winstead PC.

"Growing our real estate finance capabilities has been a priority for us and one of the reasons we opened an office in Charlotte a few years ago," said Joe Guay, leader of Holland & Knight's Real Estate Section. "Jeff, David, Joseph and the rest of the group have built one of the premier practices in the nation and we expect they will contribute greatly to the success of our firm and clients."

The team primarily represents lenders in a variety of real estate loan transactions, including managing CMBS programs and balance sheet loans for U.S. money center banks, investment banks and REITs. This emphasis includes multistate and multiproperty financings involving multiple lenders and various levels of mortgage and mezzanine debt. They also represent borrowers in connection with property acquisition and refinancing of current loans and servicing groups in connection with loan workouts, loan restructurings, assumptions, defeasance payoffs, extensions, partial property releases and related matters.

"This group and their practice have been successful in Charlotte for many years," said Tim Ryan, executive partner of Holland & Knight's Charlotte office. "It is important for us to hire attorneys who are well known and committed to the local community. Even though these attorneys do sophisticated work involving real estate around the country, they have strong ties to Charlotte."

"Holland & Knight has built an impressive team of real estate and finance professionals in almost every major city in the U.S.," said Mr. Lee. "We imagine that a multitude of opportunities will flow from this extensive network. Likewise, we look forward to providing local Charlotte support for various firm clients."

Holland & Knight's Charlotte office was established in 2016 and now includes 20 attorneys. The firm's Charlotte-based attorneys focus on financial services, litigation, tax, business law and real estate.

With more than 280 lawyers and professionals nationally, Holland & Knight's Real Estate Section is one of the largest of any U.S. law firm. U.S. News - Best Lawyers named Holland & Knight the "2017 Law Firm of the Year" in real estate law.
