Landstar Successfully Concludes Decade-Long Litigation with OOIDA

JACKSONVILLE – January 4, 2013 - On Jan. 3 claims against Holland & Knight client Landstar System, Inc., were dismissed by Owner-Operator Independent Drivers Association, Inc. (OOIDA). The decision brought to a close a decade-long litigation involving two trials and extensive appeals that were closely followed by the transportation industry.

At issue in the case was Landstar's compliance with federal regulations that govern the leasing relationship between motor carriers and truck owner-operators. In the end, the court affirmed the validity of Landstar's current leases with all of its BCOs and awarded no injunctive or monetary relief to the plaintiffs.

Jacksonville partners Larry Hamilton, Buddy Schulz and Peter Hargitai acted as lead counsel to Landstar.

Landstar System, Inc. is a non-asset based provider of integrated supply chain solutions. The company is headquartered in Jacksonville, Fla.
