Long-Shot Carbon Tax Plan Aims For Policy Consensus

Prominent Republicans recently pitched a plan calling for a national carbon tax to offset the predicted rollback of climate change regulations under the Trump administration, but the plan does not seem likely to succeed. Senior Policy Advisor Beth Viola noted that a policy as sweeping as a national carbon tax would be hard to inject into reform legislation.

"Without broad, diverse buy-in from various stakeholders on the left and the right, I think it would be very hard to get any traction on it," said Ms. Viola.
