White Collar Defense Attorney and Former SDNY Prosecutor Jonathan Halpern Joins Holland & Knight

NEW YORK (May 7, 2018) – Holland & Knight announced today that Jonathan N. Halpern has joined the firm as a partner in its White Collar Defense and Investigations practice resident in the New York office. Mr. Halpern served as an assistant U.S. attorney for the Southern District of New York, where he was chief of the Major Crimes Unit. He represents companies and individuals in internal and government investigations and defends clients in civil and criminal cases in court. On the defense side, he has represented clients in a range of litigation matters, from criminal prosecutions of securities fraud and healthcare fraud to sexual harassment, gender-based and defamation claims.   

In addition to defending clients in court, Mr. Halpern counsels and represents institutions and individuals in a wide array of criminal and regulatory matters, including allegations involving the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act, securities fraud, false claims, antitrust violations, and healthcare, tax, cyber and art fraud. His clients span diverse industries from financial services, pharmaceuticals, healthcare, technology and energy services to media, manufacturing and the arts.

Mr. Halpern is a member of the board of directors of The Fund for Modern Courts, the New York State Bar Association's Committee on White Collar Criminal Litigation and the New York City Bar's European Affairs Committee.

Mr. Halpern received a J.D. degree from Boston University School of Law and an A.B. degree cum laude from Cornell University. Most recently, he was a partner at Foley & Lardner in its New York office.
