Allison Martin Rhodes is a partner in Holland & Knight’s Portland and Los Angeles offices and the co-chair of the Holland & Knight Legal Profession Team. She focuses her practice on legal ethics and risk management, law firm organization and attorney disciplinary defense. Ms. Martin Rhodes advises both law firms and lawyers on ethical and fiduciary issues related to lateral hiring, law firm dissolution and expulsion matters.  In that context, she represents lawyers and law firms in litigation among themselves.

In fields spanning a wide range of transactional and litigation practices, Ms. Martin Rhodes has extensive experience representing individual practitioners, large law firms and in-house legal departments in connection with professional responsibility matters. She also counsels lawyers involved in white collar criminal investigations at the state and federal levels.

Ms. Martin Rhodes is a nationally recognized thought leader in the law governing the legal profession. She is a frequent writer and national speaker on ethics, risk management, lawyer mobility and law firm partnership matters. She is the co-author, with Professor Robert Hillman, on the leading treatise, Hillman on Lawyer Mobility: The Law and Ethics of Partner Withdrawals and Law Firm Breakups, Third Edition. She was also a contributing author, together with Ron Mallen, of the leading treatise Legal Malpractice, 2014 and 2015 editions.

Previously, Ms. Martin Rhodes was a deputy district attorney with the Multnomah County District Attorney’s Office, where she was assigned to the Gang Crimes Unit with liaison responsibilities for both the Portland and Gresham police departments.
