Holland & Knight Recognized with ABA Military Pro Bono Project Outstanding Services Award

MIAMI (March 27, 2015) – Holland & Knight was recognized by The Standing Committee on Legal Assistance for Military Personnel (LAMP) as a recipient of the ABA Military Pro Bono Project Outstanding Services Award for extraordinary pro bono services in 2014 through the ABA Military Pro Bono Project. Holland & Knight was one out of only two firms recognized by the ABA for this prestigious award.

Eight individual Holland & Knight attorneys were honored for their exceptional work on pro bono matters received through the ABA Military Pro Bono Project. They include partners Michael Abel, Brian Hole, Charles Coleman III, Fred Lotterhos III, Jim Michalski, Sean Sheely, John Toriello, and associate Rick Bixter.

The LAMP Committee reserves these annual awards for individual attorneys, law firms and law departments that have provided extraordinary pro bono services through the ABA Military Pro Bono Project. Awards are given to only those who meet specified award criteria involving the number of pro bono cases accepted through the project and/or the number of rendered pro bono hours reported to the project for completed cases. The exceptional pro bono assistance of these attorneys helps to ensure that junior enlisted, active duty service members are receiving the legal help that they need.

In addition to its involvement with the ABA Military Pro Bono Project, Holland & Knight also supports the Wounded Warrior Project, provides legal services for the United Way's Mission United Initiative to assist veterans with civilian re-acclimation, and partners with the ABA's Section of Taxation and the Internal Revenue Service to coordinate a Military Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program.
