Trump's New Cuba Policy to Restrict Travel and Other Business

Daily Business News

President Donald Trump announced changes in the U.S. - Cuba policy that will likely affect the hospitality industry and U.S. companies with business ties to Cuba. Though a majority of the categories concerning U.S. travelers visiting Cuba will remain the same, a major difference will be the returning requirement of people-to-people travelers to participate in tours only. These changes may directly affect lawyers because many of the changes ban U.S. trade with any Cuban entity that deals with the Cuban military.

"Prohibiting work with any company owned or controlled by the Cuban military will directly affect anyone operating in the hotel space," said Andres Fernandez, a partner at Holland & Knight Miami who leads the firm's Cuba Action Team.
